Call for Abstracts

The Summit is calling for submissions for
oral presentations, panels, debates, lightning talks,
and pre-summit workshops.
Abstract submissions close 18 May
and pre-summit workshop EOIs close 7 April.

You are invited to present at the Evidence and Implementation Summit (EIS), taking place in-person in Melbourne, Australia, 27 - 29 October 2025.
 

In 2025, EIS is combining forces with the Implementation Science Health Conference Australia (ISHCA), and returning to a fully face-to-face format. With new presentation options and a revamped call for abstracts, we're offering more opportunities than ever to learn, share and grow your networks. 

 

The review panel is currently receiving abstracts for oral presentations, panels, debates, and lightning talks. Submissions for oral and lightning talks can opt to be considered by the ISHCA Scientific Committee for inclusion in the health stream. And for the first time, we are taking early EOIs for pre-summit workshops, sponsored by Sydney Health Partners.

Contributions from a broad range of areas of interest are welcome. Please consider our six Summit themes, the context of current global challenges, the areas of interest listed, and the presentation formats.

​​​​​​Presentation types  

Oral Presentation (with optional 5-8 slides)

A 15-minute, in-person presentation where you provide a detailed overview of your project and findings and respond to audience questions (approx. 3 minutes).

Lightning Talk (with optional 1 slide)

A 3-minute, in person presentation, where your focus is rapid-fire summary results, followed by participation in a moderated discussion
bringing together multiple speakers.
No audience questions.

Panel Presentation (45 minutes)

This format is a moderated discussion offering
3 or more expert speakers, case-studies and perspectives on a complex topic or theme.
Your session topic and allocation of time should enable discussion/questions between the speakers and moderator, as well as between the audience and speakers. The focus is on discussion and exchange; presenters ideally do not use slides,
and do not individually present for more than
5 minutes, with at least 20 minutes allocated to questions and discussion.

Debate (45 minutes)

This format offers a complex, contested discussion in which multiple experts offer diverging perspectives, with a moderator to manage speaker time and audience questions.
The best debate topics have no easy answers: they are hot-button issues where there are competing values and interests, disagreements are likely, and comprehensive reflection is required.

Call for expressions of interest to run 2.5-hour pre-summit workshops

For the first time, we are calling for expressions of interest from the evidence and implementation community to run a limited number of 2.5-hour workshops, sponsored by Sydney Health Partners, on topics of broad interest to our audiences.

 

These workshops will be held on Monday 27 October (the day prior to the official start of EIS 2025), in either the morning or afternoon.

 

What is a pre-summit workshop?
A workshop enables attendee learning, activation and participation, on a topic of broad interest to the EIS and ISHCA community of researchers, policymakers and practitioners. These sessions will only be available to Summit attendees.


What do I need for my EOI?
Your EOI should be a maximum of 2 pages in length, and must identify the following:

  • proposed workshop topic and title

  • a description of why this workshop is needed

  • learning objectives for the session

  • expert speakers, who can lead participants on an interactive learning journey (at least 2 speakers should be identified,
    from different organisations)

  • proposed workshop content and activities

This EOI process will be separate to the call for abstracts and will have an earlier closing date of 7 April.
You can submit both a workshop EOI and an abstract for consideration.
